Paradise Farm Organics - Who We Are
The Organic Approach
Ancestors of the Hudson family have been farming in this area since
the 19th century. In more recent times they have used conventional farming
methods changing from dairy farmers to cereal producers. The shift to
organic farming has brought new challenges and opportunities.
Paradise Farm Organics was set up in 2005 by Richard Hudson and Catherine
Bell. Richard left the UK in 1998 unmotivated by the state of the agricultural
industry and the routines of spray, fertilise and spray again. After
several years working as English teachers abroad they have returned
to set up this organic business with the new addition to their family,
Oliver.
Paradise Farm, certified Organic in 2001, has provided them with a unique
opportunity to work in beautiful surroundings whilst producing a wide
variety of food to deliver to the local area.
The farm is managed with conservation as a top priority, the suitably
named Paradise Farm (yes... that's the original name!) provides not
only the fertile land required for growing vegetables successfully,
but also a rich and varied habitat for wildlife which is actively encouraged
by the farming methods. Check the
wildlife section for more info on this area.
